Before opening the cover to this book it takes a little time to drink in every last detail. You can see balloons and bows, streamers, and a sprinkling of swirling stars both near and far. Granny Rosie is sort of hiding behind a word in the title. She's peeking out with a colorful party hat sporting shades of pink, blue, yellow, and green. Her kind face and gentle eyes cast a genuine grandmotherly glow. But don't look away to fast, for a hint of accidental blunder seems to lurk wherever she goes. And then it is plain to see there are girls of three dancing and twirling about.
There is almost an act of kindness expressed in the character of Cookie. She's the one in blue. And you can see a gentleness showing clearly across her face, but also in the way she presents a beautifully decorated layer cake. While Candi floats courageously about in her pink dress, she exudes a strong sense of grace and happiness. Coco is dressed all in yellow, cartwheeling around, and you get a feeling she's grateful and generous by the green and purple wrapped gifts she holds.
Below is one of the pages from The Birthday Triplets: Granny Rosie's Amazing Magical Day. Reading the words and gazing at the picture it captures a true depiction of who these girls really are--why, even the puppy looks rather sad.
And these are the Birthday Triplets, three girls who pop out of bubbles--bubbles which come from Granny Rosie's wonderful magical mistake.
Each wears a charm with a message inscribed. Cookie's says, "Be kind," Candi's is, "Be Brave," and Coco's is inspiring for it says, "Be your best."
