It's career day for Mrs. Grable's 4th Grade class. Every student has to go up in front of the class to announce what they'd like to be when they grow up. When it's Samantha's turn, the class laughs. Find out why. This book offers courage for kids in overcoming difficult situations.
This story comes from my true life experience in 4th Grade. It was career day and everyone in our class had to stand up and tell what we wanted to be when we grew up. It really happened to me when it was my turn that my teacher asked me not to utter, "I wished to be a nurse," as so many girls before me stated that (having a last name near the end of the alphabet, was a long wait and I can't see how we girls wouldn't have the same idea). Her tone of voice stumped me, being shy I had no idea what to say. I'm sure I came up with something, but to this day I can't recall what career came to mind. I wonder if it was writer?
